Mentally Challenged Girl Saved from Begging on the Streets

A woman and her mentally challenged girl were in dire straits.  The usual skimpy meals had dwindled down to practically nothing since the pandemic.  No one had extras to give them.  The only recourse she could think of was begging on the streets.  Unthinkable with a handicapped daughter!  She could imagine the ridicule and shame they would both have to endure.  God save us from such a fate as this!

But Pastor Antonio, better known as Nego by his friends, knew this women.  So when Dominican Vision made funds available to him to distribute food to the most needy, this woman and her daughter were spared and their prayers answered.  Now they have food for one good meal each day.  They are so happy.

“We used to have no food.  Now we have some groceries to make supper.”

Esther and her family have been joining mission teams with DVI since 2009. She has always enjoyed writing and explored this as she home-schooled her children and more recently by joining a writer's club at her church. Her knowledge of the culture and geography, along with her imagination, gives her the tools to expound and flesh out the amazing testimonies that come from experiences in the Dominican Republic.
